Dry, rough pads on feet

Hi Everybody!

Sugar's pads look rough and dry. They are not sore though. How do you all take care of your terrier's feet?

I don't. The Minkies' ones are dry and rough too. You don't want them soft.
The groomer clips the hair between their toes though.

As they get older it is normal for their pads to get rough and hard, it protects their feet. All you really need do is keep them clean, and the hair short between their toes. Keep a close eye on them for cracks or cuts, in which case a little Bag Balm works wonders.

It's the greatest stuff...It's an ointment that Dairymen use on their cows udders when they get chapped or injured, It has very healing properties. I have used it on my dogs for years and it's the best on hot spots. I have even used it on diaper rash with exellent results. Very soothing and softening.

Can you say what the ingredients are in this 'Bag Balm', please, I have never heard of it over here, anything like neatsfoot oil?
or is it water based or what,
Jack

This is from the can it comes in.
Active ingredients..Hydroxy Quinoline sulfate 0.3% in a petrolatum, lanolin base.
I don't think it's anything like neatsfoot oil. It is made in the US and possibly is not available over there. Try a Farm store or your pharmacy. Here's a web site for you..I see you can buy it online.

Like evryone else says, they dry out with age. Things to watch are the fur between them. Bobby's got matted before and cut his pad, it was really sore.

Thanks. I know alot of quilters use bag balm for sore fingers. I'll get some and have on hand in case either one of us needs it. :)
