Puppy Vaginitis
Our 4 month Cairn Pup has been diagnosed with vaginitis after thinking it was a UTI and three rounds of antibiotics. Anyone have any experience with this? Our vet recommends time and spaying when old enough. Bella is doing some better but house training sure is challenging with this going on.

Re: Puppy Vaginitis
My Westie Girls were spayed at 4 and 5 months of age, I would say the sooner you get her spayed the better. Especially if it puts an end to the problem. xxxbetty and the Girlies...

Re: Puppy Vaginitis
Thanks for your encouragement. We will have her spayed in three weeks. She only weighs in 6.5 lbs. Hope she grows more before then!!

Re: Puppy Vaginitis
No discharge at all! I guess this is good but I just hope we haven't misdiagnosed it. Someone else I talked to had the discharge. She just squats alot and has the elevated WBC in her urine. We are going to do a repeat next week. How old was your pup when it went away? Did spaying help her?

Rio squatted loads when she had her bladder infection. Antibiotics cleared it up fast. XXX.

Re: Puppy Vaginitis
My Katie had this. I had taken her to a vet, which later I did not care for. I had planned on getting her spayed at 6 months old, but decided to go to another vet that was recommended to me. The new vet checked Katie for the pre- spaying, and he said she vaginitis, which the other vet did not detect, but the only way for her to be rid of it was to go through one heat cycle. Katie did go through one heat cycle at 9 months. The new vet checked her about a month later, and she was better, as far as the vaginitis. Then the vet did spay Katie at 10 months old. Now, Katie, who will be 3 in July, has not come down with this since. As far as house training, I don't think her having vaginitis made it a problem for her to train. I know Bella will get over this, but I just wanted to let you know what my vet recommended, whom I trusted. Good luck Katie and Linda
