A Handy Tip -- Nail Clipping

Just sharing something I learned from Judy Young's great grooming video:

If you accidentally clip into the quick on your pup's nails, instead of using styptic powder, keep some flour on hand and dip the paw into flour.

Judy says that she knows, from personal experience, that the styptic stuff HURTS!!! Flour doesn't --- plus it helps stop the bleeding and it's way, way cheaper!!!

You can also use corn starch for this, they work better then the styptic.
My vet told me about this.

I would imagine the corn starch is really soothing. I never thought of that!!!

I have a feeling Judy tested the styptic on herself --- that's why she said "from personal experience."

Yes, it really does hurt. I am so dumb, if it goes on my boy, it gets tested on me first. It was worse than the cut that I put it on!!!
