When is the best time to...
... spay a westie female??
I'm planning to spay Xana when she is 8 months old (now she's 6). Is this the correct time?? Too late? The vet told me it's better to spay before the first heat. When is the first heat in westies?

We think you should have Xana spayed ASAP. She could come into heat at any time. Our Vet told us that it's better to spay before the heat hormones start because you prevent a lot of problems. Daisy was spayed a five monthe, Sissy at four. They have done very well, No problems whatsoever. If you allow Xana to come into heat it presents a whole bunch of problems. Spay now!!!

My dear,
call your vet tomorrow and make an appointment! The time is now, as Westies can come into heat any time around 6 months!

The first heat's usually around 6 months. I had Sparky done after 2 and Rio after 1.

Now !!! We had Molly done when she was 6 months old and it was the perfect time.

Kali was about 6 months. I saw her acting strange and going around sniffing and just being different. I scooped her up and off she went to the vet. Keep us posted on what you decide.
