Bathing a Senior Citizen Pupper
Hi,
We have Mindy, our senior--12 years old. She gets quite oily and I need to bathe her about every three weeks. However, since it is cold, I am wondering how soon after a bath I should be letting her outside. I do blow dry her (she loves getting a bath and blow drying--is good as gold about it) but it never really gets her completely dry-- really fluffs up her hair.
So, how long should she wait--continue the couple of hours, or am I being over-protective (my natural tendency).
Thanks, Pam and pups/WI

Re: Bathing a Senior Citizen Pupper
If I need to bath the Minkies in this weather, which luckily is rare, I put the heating on and make them stay in a couple of hours. XXX.

Re: Bathing a Senior Citizen Pupper
Eric was having baths when he was 12 ..not very often though,I just used to towel dry him..then usually he would escape and go roll in some soil,he looked worse then than before he had his bath!!He has not had a bath since his seizures though although my vet said he would be ok...but it upsets him now and he does not smell so I figure he's ok.Little Gremmie used to have a very waxy coat, but Erics is not. Love and kisses xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Sara's coat get's oily too and she always has to go out right after her bath (that is after she's been blow dried) I always carry her down the steps and cover her back with a small towel and carry her back in asap.

Re: Bathing a Senior Citizen Pupper
I'm just a young pup but Mom can tell I get really cold after my bath since it's chilly and damp here 3/4ths of the time. She turns the heat up before my bath then after towel drying me she uses the hair dryer then wraps me up in a warm towel or blanket and cuddles me up while we take a nap together! I get all warm and toasty then while she rests up afterwards. Elliot

Re: Bathing a Senior Citizen Pupper
Guess I should have added that it only takes about 1.5 hrs after cuddling up in a warm blanket for my nosey to warm back up to where I can go outside.

Re: Bathing a Senior Citizen Pupper
I tend to bath my 2 later in the day and then keep them inside and only let them out to do a quick widdle and then back inside. It doesn't get as cold here though.
