Lazer surgery v. traditional

I have to get my girl spayed in a few months and I am thinking that I will have it done by lazer. Does anyone in the Hinsdale Illinois or surrounding area know of a vet that uses a lazer? Mine does not.

I heard it I think from my little Daisy's foster mommy. They can do this by lazer now instead of the tradional surgical way. It is suppose to be less invasive and promotes quicker healing and less scarring.

If it's still a relatively new idea I'd stick to the traditional method myself.

We had a benign tumor removed from Max a year ago using laser surgery. It cauterizes the incision so hardly any blood is lost. It is more costly, but a recovering Max hardly noticed it - we sure did, we called him Frankenstein doggie!!! He has a scar now a year later. We had the surgery done this way because he is older. We live in Virginia, by the way, you might want to check with some of the Illinois members. xxxMarianne and Maxxx

I know someone that had this done on their dogs and one did real good, the other one had problems. So like anything else, it works different on different dogs.

Danielle, I haven't really seen any difference in the lazer vs the traditional. When I take in a foster they only charge WRM for the traditional, but if the lazer is already out and available they will use it at no extra charge. I don't see any difference. P.S. the "extra" charge is only $10.
