dry skin
My little foster "Benny" has little spots on his back that are dry - flakes vary from light to dark in colour. I nearly flipped my lid thinking he had fleas when I first found them. I believe the vet called them little subasceous (not sure of spelling) glands.... like the one in his tail??
Do any of your Westie's have these? Do you use special shampoo or other treatment? My vet said it was great that I give my dogs a Vitamin E & a Fish Oil Capsule daily - he didn't seem too concerned.
Charlie will get these little bumps (groomer calls them little warts) and they will dry up and flake off, sometimes bleed if caught with the brush or comb.
Welcome any helpful advice.

Re: dry skin
If you check out my post on the CARE area of this forum i just wrote about this. What kind of heat do you have in your home? Is it rainy or sunshine? I have been really educating myself on Westies I have had great success and really, Keep in mind, Vets just love to label your dog as having allergies. I spent alot of money for several years and now i dont spend any more than the cost of food. Ask you vet about the shampoo i mentioned and do yourself a favor....when the spots are gone (probably from the weather) dont shampoo your dog...They have long hair for a reason. The worst culprits are the groomers with their sprays and cutting. Westies are suppose to have long hair. email if you need to. Believe me, no one wants to be spending lots of money during this economy when they dont have to. Take care. ..check out the forum i mentioned.
