Allergies?
What's wrong with this Westie? He keeps licking his hair off. I know Westies are known for allergies but whats this dog's problem? His skin is blackened instead of pink.
I don't see a way to post a picture.

Re: Allergies?
Hi there, so sorry you're having problems with your Westie. Have you taken him to his vet lately? The blackened skin could be a yeast infection...common with allergies. Our Emmie started scratching and licking her paws at the age of 6. She also developed a yeast infection (which shows up as blackened skin). After a trip to our vet, she's now on Apoquel and doing fine. The vet also had her on antibiotics for 10 days to relieve the yeast infection. Hope this helps a bit and that you have a vet who understands the skin issues with Westies. There are several good meds out there for allergies as well as homopathic methods if you decide to go that route.Take care, Deb and Emmie Sue

Re: Allergies?
Guest, if you could resubmit your question on the General Forum, I'm sure you'll get more folks wanting to help you. The Photo Forum doesn't get much use...Deb and Emmie

Re: Allergies?
Hello as Deb says and there are a lot of members here with Westies who will be able to help,we have one Westie but never had any skin issues but we have always had Cairn terriers...I hope you soon find a way to solve your pets licking issue and he or she must be quite distressed with it.. and also I would put the message on general forum so more people will see.Annie Biba and Andrew
