muff and scruff

Take a look at these two beautiful westies. I believe they were found in Iowa. They are both males and seem to be in good shape. Wish I lived there, I would scoop them up.

I don't like the fact they're letting them go @$10 each !!!
They're gorgeous and could end up somewhere really bad...

Re: muff and scruff Reply to this Message

I asked the director, of the Atlantic shelter why the adoption fee was so inexpensive. She said that are over whelmed with dogs and cats and want to keep them moving.
But...they still have to wait the week for an owner to claim them. They do put quite a few of their shelter dogs to sleep because they do not have room or resources to care for more.
She did say they prefer to adopt to their local people if possible. She also needs help with other breeds as well as mixed breeds.

Re: muff and scruff Reply to this Message

Hi...I called the Shelter in Atlantic Tuesday morning after getting the alert from a fellow Rescue friend.
Atlantic is only 70 miles away from me.
Muff and Scruff came into the shelter the day before and must stay for a week before they can be adopted. That will be August 18th. I spoke with the director of the shelter, Melissa & she said a friend of one of volunteers is interested in one of them. The young Westie still has baby teeth!!!
Oh, Puppy Breath!!!! :)
We talked alot about how Westie Rescue works and she welcomed our help. I will call again this weekend to see IF their owners claim them AND if they are available for adoption.
I will let you all know what I learn this weekend.Cathy Kane, Radar and Harley's mom from Omaha has volunteered to go along with me IF these wonderful darling Westies are available for adoption.
Thanks for posting this adorable photo,Suzanne.

Re: muff and scruff Reply to this Message

Thanks for all your support, Lynda..I think the word of Rescue just keeps spreading and as we get to know friends in these shelters, we find they are now calling us when they need help.
We will be transporting a pair of Yorkies tomorrow who are coming from Western Nebraska. There also will be a 8 month old black lab puppy on the same transport moving on to Iowa.
It seems when we get involved with knowing many breed rescue friends...the word just spreads.

I have their picture plastered around my house hoping the grump will change her mind to males. It's usually one sure fire way of these guys to get adopted, me wanting them! LOL! I also plastered Sissy and Prissy too they are females but she said one not 2 more MEANY!

They are so cute. I just e-mailed them to a friend in Missouri. She wants at least one dog after meeting Lily and Duffy in July.

Re: muff and scruff Reply to this Message

They are gorgeous, wonder if they are litter mates?

It worries me that they are not neutered, what's $20 if you can breed them (how do the shelters follow up). I'd hate to see them end up in a mill.

I hope they are turned over to WRM if the owner doesn't clain them. Anything we can do to encourage this A.J.?

Atlantic, Iowa is about 70 miles North East of Omaha. Great to know you have family in Des Moines if we need help in that area. Thanks so much for offering your Mom and Dad to help us.
