Speaking of Older Dogs

Rascal is my third 11 yr old foster and I love the older guy, my first was Alvin who sat in a puppy mill for 11 yrs what a wonderful little fellow so scared of life and adopted to a wonderful home in TN, then I had Thistle also 11, who's owner was terminally ill and could not care for him, I must say Thistle was the most well adjusted happy guy I ever saw he was a very loved dog. I became very good friends with the gal who adopted Alvin and I would tell her about Thistle and what a funny little man he was and now Thistle is living in TN with Alvin. Now I have Rascal who lived out side for most of his 11 yrs, this little fellow is a delight ,he is a grumbler when you pick him up, when you give him a kiss or when he walks by you and the grumbling is almost like a cat purring he grumbles when he is happy. I had Maddie also on Cairn Rescue USA in NY for a week she was going from MN to her foster home in NY and my husband fell for her she is blind but she could get around , I think maybe she saw a little, she had the cutes little bark and in the morning I would hear my husband barking at her to get her to bark back. When I took Maddie to the airport to meet Violetta who was bring her to NY she walked through Chicago O'Hara airport like she owned it. I guess you can tell I think Sr cairns are the best. CRUSA also has some wonderful older dogs loking for homes and we now have " Become a godparent to a Senior Dog" You will notice that Rascal has adoption peding, I am not going to let this one get away from me. Five cairns are better then four.

Good on you, Eileen....very well done indeed. Alvin's story touched me. That was a lifetime in a mill...very sad indeed. So happy to hear he now has a happy home and a buddy too.

Eileen,
I'm like you - I love the older ones! And to think some people only want a puppy or young adult..they don't know what they are missing.
