Even better Ainsley news..

From Ann, her foster mom.

Ainsley had a long and trying day at the doctor's office today and I've cried several times already for her, once for her pain and once with joy. It started at 6:30 this morning when I dropped her off at the eye doctor's office where a MALE attendant took her in. He made the mistake of putting her on the floor to walk rather than carrying her, she freaked when she realized I had left her and she found herself with this man (men aren't her favorite people anymore). As I looked back, I saw her running frantically all over the office with this huge man chasing her. Tears started flowing for her, but I was locked out because they weren't open yet and just let me in to keep her until the eye clinic opened (this is also a 24 hour emergency clinic, all one big medical facility). I ran to the door hoping she'd see me and come towards the door, but instead she ran down a hall and out of my sight. Soon I saw a lady running through this same hall trying to help catch her. Needless to say, I cried for some time, but after realizing I couldn't get back in or help, I went on to work and called to check on her later in the day. They kept her all day and when I went to pick her up, she was so happy to see me and bounced with joy. I heard all the staff talking about how much they loved her and had played with her all day. Even her doctor was mesmerized with her gentleness and affection (and yes...he's a man). The results showed that the inflammation is reduced and the pressure was normal all day today. The eye should be more comfortable at this point. The prognosis for return of vision is very poor, but they can ultrasound the eye to see if the retina is detached and also test her retina (an electroretinogram test) to see if the retina has any functional capacity. This would only be done to see if removing the inflammatory debris and secondary cataract would allow her to have any vision. They should recheck her to be sure she is not developing glaucoma or other complications and need to recheck her in 3-4 months. Unless problems occur at a later date, he saw no need to remove the eye. The red color of blood will eventually become gray and the eyeball should probably shrink a bit in size. She seems to be managing well with the vision she does have though. I was so relieved and happy for her, I started crying again and we all soon laughed at the wonderful news of her eye not having to be removed. I called her "adopted Mom to be" who was as tickled as I am and she requested to know when her surgery tomorrow was over and that she was home with me and well. She was very pleased to know the diagnosis and I'm sure she will pursue and treatment that she needs to improve the vision in this eye. Thanks for all the prayers, I'm sure they helped and I'm also sure Ainsley would give you all "kisses" if she could. The doctor had no problem with her being spayed tomorrow and was pleased to know one of his clients was adopting Ainsley and Carney. He knew her name instantly and thought highly of her. We did good by this little one and I'm so proud of CPCRN and of being a small part of it.

Yes, this is a good ending, or will be shortly. How exciting! But I'm sure it was hard to watch her get upset. But I guess all for a good cause.

They will be in our thoughts,
