You might also mention that the nearest people are over 1 1/2 hours away from Erie PA one way and her mom is seriously ill with cancer.
I'm sure that had more to do with her decision.

I also forgot to mention they would pick up the dog if we turned it over to them.

Eileen - I don't know if you have talked to your Intakes Manager about this situation but Stephanie contacted me on Sunday asking for help. Since I knew the other people she was asking for help from were on the road, I suggested Stephanie contact a rescue worker in Cleveland OH which is over an hour from Erie PA but I thought might be close enough to help. At that point, it was up to that rescue person as to whether they were able to help. Since this rescue person had just pulled a dog the day before, it could be that her schedule did not allow her to help at this time.

Could you please make sure about your facts before you make blanket statements about people refusing to help? There is NO policy at CPCRN to not pull dogs for another rescue group as long as all the documentation and procedures are clear. It is however a personal choice if someone cannot or does not have the time or resources. I would like to think your organization was above condemming a whole group based on the choice of one person. Thank you.

While all this bickering is going on a dog is waiting in a cage to be rescued.

I believe Stephanie at CRUSA told me this was an owner surrender and was not in danger. The dog nipped (not even bit) so the owners contacted CRUSA to take him. So he is not sitting in a cage that I know of.

Unlike the Cairn in Texas that Stephanie also contacted me about on Saturday who was at a KILL shelter and she was fearful about the dog's future. The TX dog is now safe and in a CRUSA foster home Stephanie told me yesterday.

Need Help in Cleveland (not Erie anymore) Reply to this Message

Hi Everyone:

The Erie PA dog is in a shelter. It was adopted and returned because it nipped the adoptive family when they tried to take a rawhide from him. The shelter cannot adopt the dog because of the nipping, so it contacted us to take him. Since last night, we have found someone to pull it. He'll need to be vetted for 10 days, possibly in the Cleveland area, and we'll either need to look for a foster home for him in the Cleveland area or for someone in Cleveland who can get him a crate at Walmart's and put him on a plane for us (e.g. Delta Pet First) since our foster homes in the east coast are pretty full. We would of course reimburse all costs.

If you live in the Cleveland area and can do this (fostering or putting the dog on a plane) or know of someone who can, please let me know.

Many thanks in advance!

True, and if you live near Erie PA you could help. Sadly most of us live much farther away.

I'm about 12 hrs away from there myself, and I already have 2 fosters.
