Florida Members-Help Needed
Please check out Petfinder and put in zip code 32233, and search for Westies. There is an urgent plea for help in Florida, as there is currently no one doing Westie rescue in Florida. I would have posted the link directly, but never have luck in getting links to Petfinder to work properly.

Re: Florida Members-Help Needed
Here is the text from the plea on Petfinder to help Florida Westies:
Notes: There are several westies at county shelters in Florida. Please contact us if you can help with the adoption, rescue and rehabilitation of the westies at flmsrescue@yahoo.com (our email/DSL problems were hopefully fixed by bellsouth) Bonnie West of Westie Rescue in Florida has too many rescue westies at the moment and can not help with the 4 shelter westies. Bonnie does not have foster homes available due to having too many rescues at the current time. Please contact Bonnie at Bonnie1946@aol.com if interested in adopting one of her many rescue westies. Joan Cleveland (excellent westie rescue) is recovering from a medical condition and is not taking new rescues at the moment. The Romano's in Orlando do not take in or rehabilitate westie's. They match potential owner's with people wanting to relinquish their westies. At the present time there is NO ONE doing westie rescue in the state of Florida. There is an average of 4 westies per week needing rescue from high kill shelters in Florida. Most are in poor condition and need complex vet care.

Re: Florida Members-Help Needed
Here's an urgent case they have. They need a foster home for him to get through heartworm treatment. XXX.

Re: Florida Members-Help Needed
There are a TON of Florida members here. Hopefully these puppers can be helped (will need some financial support I would imagine--especially with the little heartworm guy).

Re: Florida Members-Help Needed
Actually, there are people doing westie rescue in FL. I know one person that is has rescued 5 westies in the past week and then another 6 the two weeks before that. She has seen this plea on petfinder.org and is wondering why it was put on there since she is doing what she can to help westies in FL. There was another person also helping with westie rescue but is unable to do rescue at the present time due to health issues.

Re: Florida Members-Help Needed
It's probably because Joan Cleveland is unable to do rescue right now, and she was a primary rescue contact for the state of Florida.

Re: Florida Members-Help Needed
I live in FL but I see that this little one cannot be with other dogs, cats, etc. I have both! I e-mailed Bonnie and asked her how I could help. I can probably foster one. I have two of my own and they are very weird. I do not think that another one would be a problem, because they are very friendly, but who knows . . .

Re: Florida Members-Help Needed
Yeh! I hope you can foster him. I bet the need to stay away from cats, dogs, children is because (being HW+) he will have to stay quiet for weeks while the poison/medicine works to kill the worms. Darlene and Jolly, FL

Re: Florida Members-Help Needed
From what it sounds like they are swamped with rescue pups right now. I wonder why Florida has so many more rescues, could it still be the after effects of last years storms?? Brady looks like such a sweetie. It sounds like he is in good hands, now. I hope that they can all be helped.

Re: Florida Members-Help Needed
Egads. I hope it is not still left over refugees from 9 months ago (there is a human baby boom in FL, 9 months later ~ go figure that one out). :-) Maybe it is combination of folks moving and folks having babies, etc. on top of rescuers being ill (from what I read earlier). Darlene and Jolly, FL
