Where is the need in FL? Contact me off list and I might have a contact for you, to at least pull from shelters but I know all the rescues are filled up to the brim. There would have to be somewhere for the dogs to go. Again, email me off list: bratpak2002@yahoo.com

This is frustrating....I did send an email offering to help if I could, but have heard nothing. Does no one coordinate Westie rescue in Florida at the present time?

It's a bad situation here in FL, apparently. Can the parent club, Westie Club of America, etc., not step up to try to rectify this situation, so it doesn't happen again? I did email the main club with my concerns.

It certainly sounds like they need their backsides kicking out there before they totally alienate anyone that's eager to help.

What's the major issue here? Finding people to pull the dogs/transport out of there or finding the dogs homes or what? You'd think if we put the word out to all the hundreds/thousands of westie owners vacationing in Florida this summer, they'd be able to spring the dogs and bring them back to their home states where hopefully there would be homes waiting.

Ok, how about a long term solution? There, however, does need to be a person or group of persons to be the point people--maybe even in just ONE section of Florida.

I can help organize--write some letters to shelters near where you are but having a person or two right there is what is the most important. Then there needs to be a backup system---for transports, etc. The bottom line is there needs to be a physical presence that can build a relationship with local shelter(s) and be willing to pull and hold a dog for a few days at least.

Write me if off line if you want to.

I am not a member so cannot contact you off list as cannot get your email. No worries, just contact ME please. I cannot foster and can barely transport now (traded down to a heap temporarily) BUT I do have some contacts so when a dog is in need I might be able to find assistance to pull and maybe transport a little, but no one can take in a dog right now from what I read on the FL rescue lists... it may be possible but not probable (meaning, don't count on it).
