IN ORDER TO WELCOME MANY NEW FURKIDS THIS WEEK!!!

The past four days have truly been very busy ones for Intakes as we welcomed
17 - yes 17 - new furkids into the CP program in this time period. As
wonderful as that is for these furkids, it also puts an extreme burden on
all of CP's Teams and finances trying to support this many new kids in a
program that is already bursting at the seams. We need your help in several
ways:

1. Help spread the word about CP to everyone you come in contact with to
help get some of our
furkids into their forever homes.

2. We are lacking foster homes for several of these kids. Please check the
below list of these
kids where I've noted who still needs a foster home. If you can help by
fostering one of
them, please email me privately at vkleine@...

3. You always are so generous with our fundraisers, but right now if you're
going to a summer
party or picnic and could take a Coins for Cairns can with you, every
little bit will go a
long way to helping cover the vetting expenses for these kids.

So without further adieu, please meet the 17 newest CP furkids:

Our Summer Vacation Group is divided into See the USA and Tour of Europe.
See the USA officially came to us as owner surrenders, but in actuality are
surrendered breeder Cairns:

Shenandoah - 1.5 year old female
Shiloh - 1 year old female
Yosemite - 1 year old male
Ozark - 1 year old female
Mackinac - 3 year old female
Nantucket - 7 year old female

We have foster homes for three of these kids and would like to keep them in
the eastern part of the country If you able to foster one of these kids,
please let me know.

Tour of Europe were breeder surrenders. We were supposed to get 2 females
and 2 males. However, at the meeting place today, they only showed up with
three. One of the females was being kept by the breeder and we can only
guess why. So, I am showing the name that she was to have as a CP kid and
hoping you will join me in saying a prayer for her that some day she will
get out and know freedom and love:

Paris - 2 year old female - will be fostered by Mary Noll in KS
London - 3 year old male - I'm looking for a foster home for London in the
Midwest
Munich - 4 year old male - I'm looking for a foster home for Munich in the
Midwest
Rome - 3 year old female did not make it out today - please remember her in
a prayer

Following are the other furkids who have come into the program since
Thursday:

Sheridan - Shelter Surrender deemed unadoptable because he wasn't good with
kids - Vonnie Hinesley in IL will foster him.

Owner Surrender almost 9 year old female who is a certified Therapy Dog.
Her owner died. Bridget Alexander in VA is fostering her and will be naming
her.

Sean - Owner Surr

Good luck rehoming them all and we'll keep fingers and paws crossed for poor Rome.

WELL, SHAME ON YOU . . .FIRST OF ALL, you don't even sign your name or WHO YOU ARE. What a coward.

SECOND OF ALL, NO, truthfully, COL. POTTER DOES NOT WANT THEM ALL. . . HECK, life would be so much easier now to have HALF the dogs we currently have under our care [number not exact, but approximately 110 dogs perhaps MORE].

WE ABSOLUTELY DO NOT have a lock on the market, NOR do we want one. THIS IS HARD WORK and ANY INDIVIDUAL OR RESCUE GROUP, CAIRN OR NOT can pick up a dog at any time. Col. Potter BEGS surrendering owners to think twice about surrendering their dog. We have a huge group of people that actually work WITH an owner who is having a problem.

NINTY DAYS? For a brief time, we notified applicants that we were behind in our processing. EVERY APPLICATION NOW GETS LOOKED AT WITHIN A DAY OR TWO OF RECEIPT OF APPLICATION.

Anyone who works rescue KNOWS that you can only work as fast as your volunteer base allows you to work, and CP has a group of very dedicated hard working people.

I'm so very sorry that for whatever reason you have a negative attitude about rescue. I'm NOT just saying this about CP, I'm saying this because of the "TALK IS CHEAP" aspect or the "until you walk in their shoes" and this is the shoes of ANYONE who works rescue.

There are some great Cairn groups out there and all of them try their darndest to help kids that we did not breed find wonderful forever homes.

WE ALSO realize that not everyone can work rescue. HOWEVER to make any negative comment such as this about any rescue group is just simply wrong.

I am addressing this strictly to the person who authored this post. The first time I read this I was very angry but not for the reason you might think. This post that you pasted here is from a private list that very specifically states that you can't crosspost without permission. YOU know what list I am talking about as you are very clearly a member. You should have at least had the courtesy to see if you could crosspost this from the person who authored the original post as I noticed that you didn't even bother to delete her name.

Second, I am getting very tired of people posting here anonymously. Frankly, if you feel strongly enough about something to author a post then have the backbone to sign it. Notice I have signed mine.

I can understand your frustration (and I assume it was just frustration that made you post this) with the time it takes to get through the adoption process but kindly keep in mind that rescue people are all volunteers. They are not paid employees and these volunteers give up their "free" time to help out dogs in need. Notice I said "free" time because these volunteers have families, jobs, and yes their own little furry guys to take of all of whom demand time and attention. Maybe, in your frustration at the wait, you should try and remember that rescue is volunteer and if you want to speed things up maybe you should offer your time to help out. This would be a much more constructive way of dealing with your frustration.

Everyone is always entitled to their oppinion on a subject. That is what makes or country so great. We don't all have to be clones or agree. But to slam someone and not have the GUTS the COURAGE to say who you are.. ? Well you need to be ignored. Because if you truly felt strongly about something you would not be ashamed to let people know who you are.
But then I guess someone who breaks rules without care or thought proabably does not care what I think,, and that is ok. We work hard every day. We support other rescues. And we are happy for any cairn kid to be helped and not just ourselves. But anyone who works hard for the kids knows this.

I'll just add my two cents worth here.

I, too, am a volunteer for Col. Potter's. The group does bust their chops to try to save every dog they can. What is wrong with that? Is that NOT what a rescue group does? I dare say that if another group wanted to save a particular dog that that is what would happen. What do you do to help, besides post anonymously (by the way----every post anywhere is totally traceable--I don't even know what I am doing but I tracked you to the Chicago area--so you might as well sign your name).

There are folks that scour Petfinders, keep in touch with shelters and, yes, the Col. Potter organization has worked very hard to get its name out there so that when there is a Cairn in need, that is the name that rolls first off the lips when it comes to Cairn Rescue. Rather than being ashamed of that, I am proud of it!

And, yes, you did post something that was posted on a private board. I guess I will never understand those who try to demean a good thing. I am sorry that you feel the need to do so.

I will speak for many here (even though I have not been asked to) and tell you that folks here at the TC really don't want to read this kind of post.

Thanks ever so much!

Just the fact that you would not sign your name shows you are ashamed of what you said. I too am a Col. Potter volunteer and am very proud of the organization. Sure we could turn dogs away, but we try with all our hearts not to. I volunteer in various capacities and know that most of our volunteers wear many hats and do whatever is needed to save these dogs. Our success rate in saving and placing dogs speaks for itself. AND you will also note that none of us are ashamed of signing our names.

Personally, I wonder who would think any rescue group plots to take away dogs from another... I suspect it is from someone who thinks rescue is a profit-making business rather than what rescue REALLY is - a humane effort to save animals. I suspect they have no clue of the expenses one animal creates when they see another being rehomed in short order, to help underwrite the less healthy ones... Why would rescues have fund raisers if the mere rehoming was covering the bills? I help various breed rescues and know none have excess foster homes to rescue any more than they already do. I think whoever posted this is clueless. Darlene and Jolly (CP kid), FL

It seems to me that whoever posted this is feeling very frustrated, maybe this person wants one of these Carins in Rescue, but can't understand why you have to wait, if this is the case .... please do not bad mouth this or any other rescue, I myself have been looking for many months to get a Westie Rescue, be patient your time will come, maybe not today or tomorrow, this is a lenghty process we all have to endure for peace of mind that these furry kids have a great home, and that they will not end up back at a rescue group or shelter.

Shame on you for not signing your post, very cowardly.
