Owner Surrender Dumps His Westie on Rescue
Recall the phone call Luann received from a man wanting to release his 11 year old Westie the same day Pricilla, the parvo rescue puppy who died?
Well - the foster mom just picked him (Toby) up today and sent this. You know - this is when rescue is nearly unbearable!! Ugh!!
While there are some people (TC readers excluded) that think rescues seem to always have their hand out and asking a lot for their dogs ... this is why. And then to note what a volunteer may go through just to get a dog vetted properly.
We won't know until Wednesday if this little guy has hope... but until then - he certainly has love and affection from Susan and Dennis. Of course, it will be her heart that will break and her tears that will fall as she holds him should the dogtor find that those tumors are what we are fearing... :(
People never cease to amaze me... in both the good and the bad sense of it all. Bless Susan and Dennis for what lies before them..... and little Toby... at least he'll know someone cares.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++ OMG....This is really bad. This dog seems older than 12. He has very little hair, arthritis in the back legs....can't hear and has cataracs. He is so sweet and very good house manners. He scratches all the time and is wet on his underside with no hair. He has some tumors and is a sleepy boy. He stinks like yucky yeast. I can get a vet appt wednesday, and Dennis said he can drive him to Bowling Green....which is about 120 miles round trip. He is friendly and good with other dogs and cats. Good appetitie and drinks LOTS of water. No potty in the house. He could use a good vet!!!!

Re: Owner Surrender Dumps His Westie on Rescue
I think Lynda it makes me feel better to try to help in some way. I just can't understand the heartless way some of these animals are treated... In my way I guess it is how I can help as with working I can't foster being away most of the day.

UPDATE
It appears the man who had him took him from his ex mother in law who was abusive... he then found that he couldn't take care of him as needed and called rescue - so it appears that "he" didn't do it - the MIL did... some of the worst millers are women, so this doesn't surprise us.

Re: Owner Surrender Dumps His Westie on Rescue
Angie, Is there anything I can do to help? Buy some meds (kick in for some meds), buy him Walkabout Helping Hand Harnesses, diaper garments, toys, whatever? Go to the sponsors board and I will give you my numbers again.
Of course he is always in our prayers!

Re: Owner Surrender Dumps His Westie on Rescue
This poor wee soul... how he must have suffered for so long. The way he is holding his ears looks like there is trouble there too. How very very sad.
How I wish we could do something to make cruelty penalties match the crimes. Angie, did Luann get any info on the m.i.l.?? Any chance charges could be laid???
