Two Cairns in need of saving
Here is the information that I have ... if you know of someone who can help please contact me ... I have a contact number for the owner but don't want to post it on the web.
Thanks, Beth & the Herbs
I have a male and female, wheaten colored, that need rescue, about 3 years old, and have not been agressive towards people, but have been towards other dogs. If they cannot find a rescue to take them, they will be shot. Please send me any contacts or call me if anyone can take these babies. Rhonda. Rhonda Turner SW MO K9s

Re: Two Cairns in need of saving
A rescue is taking these dogs. They had viciously killed another Cairn in foster care. :( This is a pretty bad situation. :(

Re: Two Cairns in need of saving
Thanks Angie for the update. I didn't know that part but it makes sense why the other two rescues couldn't take them.

Re: Two Cairns in need of saving
Oh my that is terrible that they killed a dog . How awful for the foster Mom. I can understand that they can't place them if someone has a dog already .So Sorry to hear that.

Re: Two Cairns in need of saving
Might be best if the separate them in two different homes. Together, they will just feed off each other. Sure hope they get homes with people that understand terriers and the issues with these two.

Re: Two Cairns in need of saving
That must have been a horrifying experience for the foster family. This is a very tough situation at best and it would seem to me separation is indeed required if either can be rehabilitated.
My heart goes out to the foster family, I can't imagine what they went through....

Re: Two Cairns in need of saving
I fostered one dog that was a fighter. You could not touch her unless you started from the head back. She would atack any one of the sister that came to close. They were stsrting to get jumpy so In less then a week I was so upset I was on the phone saying find a home now without dogs for this one. I have only just a bit of a hint as to what this poor foster went through. My heart really goes out to her.

CLARIFICATION Re: Two Cairns in need of saving
Just to clarify. These cairns were not in foster care when they apparently killed the other cairns. They were given from one "breeder" to another "breeder."
I would not want folks to be scared off from fostering a wee westie or cairn in need because of this story...

Re: CLARIFICATION Re: Two Cairns in need of saving
Thank you for that.... I was really reconsidering the notion of ever fostering a dog in the future...

Re: CLARIFICATION Re: Two Cairns in need of saving
Nancy, are you saying the pair killed more than one other dog?? Such a shame as they have likely been badly abused.
I am glad you cleared this up as I was picturing a foster Mom watching this happen.

Re: Two Cairns in need of saving
I talked to Rhonda with SW MO K9s yesterday, and the male and female cairn in need of rescue apparently killed three other cairns. One "breeder" got them from another, put them in a pen with three of her cairns (Rhonda thinks a male and two females), and her three cairns were found "killed." I asked Rhonda if something else could have gotten into the pen and killed them, and she said no.
Doesn't mean these are horrible dogs, they just did something dogs might naturally do if put in that situation (two intact males, three intact females).
Fortunately, Rhonda has found a small, non-cairn rescue that is going to take them. Apparently, Col. Potter and CRUSA had to turn them down because they couldn't find foster homes for them, and I'd have to do the same if I couldn't find foster homes either.
I would not ask someone to foster them together, and I would not place them together. This is a pair that is best off separated.
