Grooming at Home
I am considering getting a grooming arm and harness for those times that I bathe the girls myself--for keeping them still and in one spot while I comb them. This is really more for Molly than Mindy on two counts----Molly is the playful one and is always getting into things and she is also the wiggleworm that does not like to get groomed.
I have found a "arm" that attaches to a table but am wondering if it will fit on a regular folding table.
Someone out there is going to know just what I need, so please advise!
Thanks, Pam

Re: Grooming at Home
Hi Pam I am attempting to groom Katie too. I did purchase a grooming arm with the attaching leash above her, and it does work great. I got my arm from Dr. Foster's. The table I use is a stand for a computer, and the arm attaches with a clamp that you screw unto the top of the table. I didn't want to purchase a table, too expensive. If the table top is an even thickness, throughout the top, the arm with the clamp should work great. Good luck with grooming. Hope I have helped. Katie and Linda

Re: Grooming at Home
I think they attach to any table. Just ensure you put a rubber mat on top. I used to use a car mat. Only £0.99 !! XXX.

Re: Grooming at Home
I use a grooming table and an arm. Got the table at a dog show, a little cheaper than the catalogs.
(why don't they call them dog-alogs?)
If you get the arm, be sure the table you use has the top that gives enough room for clamping. What I mean is, some folding tables have a metal thing that comes down a couple of inches in from the edge of the table, kind of to hide the legs when it is folded. Make sure you have enough room to clamp properly. I am considering getting a second arm because real wigglers, like my two, still turn around and move quite a bit. Nearly drives one nuts!!

Re: Grooming at Home
You can buy an adjustable frame that clamps on either side of the grooming table, you can adjust the height in the same way as the arm. RR's Mum

Re: Grooming at Home
I know. that's the kind I have. Thanks for the suggestion.
The problem is that S. and A. turn around. So what ever side I have it on they turn and show me their butts!! Tee heee. With two arms, and two leashes holding them, they can't spin around.
Doesn't hurt, just tells them they can't do spins!

Re: Grooming at Home
Looks like I'll have to get my inventive mind going here, How about a board with four, like mini wellington boots attached to it, you just plonk the dog in it, it cant run, turn round, or escape!, We could even have a head attachment, like a set of stocks, they put their head thought to get the treat on the other side, 'Quick Clamp'!!!,, Dog secured! (Great for teeth cleaning too!) Then after main body has been groomed you can take each foot out individually to trim and attend to nails. Perfect contraption !! Tee Hee Jack

Re: Grooming at Home
While you are at it Jack, something to convince a wriggly Beardie pup to lie on his side, then back and then the other side to be groomed. Jan

Re: Grooming at Home
If you have crates, Judy Young's son makes a great crate topper that you can use for grooming. You can also get a grooming arm to attach to it. You can pick the colors you want too to match your decor LOL. No, I don't get a commission either!!

Re: Grooming at Home
My husband has something called a Black and Decker Workmate and I put a plywood board on that, and it has these things that you can use to tighten up the grip on the board, and I can clamp the grooming arm on it and top the board with a piece of inexpensive carpeting.
Works for me, except the dogs still turn around and show me their butts!!!
