MARS COAT KING Vote for this post

I want to buy a Mars Coat King, but I noticed they come with different numbers of blades. How many blades do you all use on your little ones?

Hugs,

I think most people recommend the 16 for terriers. I also have the 12 for doing furnishings, but I seldom use it.

We have the 16 which is what we were told is good for the terriers. We are planning on getting the smaller one-12 for sort of trimming. When you price them check the Col. Potter store, I found their's to be the cheapest at the time I bought ours. Pat - Zip & Joey & Sean's Mom

Mars is a useful tool for removing undercoat, but it does cut the top coat which is what you don't want on a Cairn. Cutting the coat makes it grow in soft. I use a Mikki stripper for the top coat and occasionally use my Oster, which is a cheaper version of a Mars in between strippings.

What is a Mikki stripper? How does it differ from the Mars?
Thanks

Mikki strippers are made in Scotland. I bought mine from a Canadian breeder. They are hand strippers that are wider..fit in the hand better at least for me. They are not a rake like a Mars coat king..
