Other jobs
and now for another stunning topic... When you think rescue, you think foster homes.. but there are LOTS of other jobs...Any rescue organization needs these jobs as well.. so if you've thought about helping rescue, but dont think you can foster.. contact the rescue of your choice to do one of these(of course, my choice was Col P's) since we do all work together, helping one is helping all.
to name a few jobs Communications - people to do reference checks, Home Visits - go make sure the house and family is what was on the application 'Pullers' - get them out of the shelter, maybe keep a few days then pass to foster home Shelter Contacts - let your local shelters know you are interested in a particular dog Fundraising - this has a lot of jobs, from making crafts, to auctioning them, or putting them on websites, even proofreading sites so they are accurate and coherent, to checking out sites that give to rescue when you buy stuff, let alone BUYING stuff. Mentoring - helping others with how a particular kind of dog behaves.. (for example that zooming is happy behavior, not crazed)
I know there are more... feel free to add on. corinne

Re: Other jobs
There's transportation. I help a local small dog rescue group by occasionally driving a "leg." It's like a relay where you hand off the rescued dogs to the next driver, and so on, until they reach their destination. It's another way to help.

Re: Other jobs
This is what I do when it's within reach from my home. The one I enjoyed the most was taking a Westie from the PA turnpike to Toledo Ohio, I got to spend almost six hours with him.

Re: Other jobs
Another way that folks can help is to donate used clothing, furniture, computers, etc., to their humane societies. Many animal shelters have their own thrift stores, and we've donated many items to them throughout the years so that they can sell them and help the animals.

Re: Other jobs
We don't have a home where we can easily foster, but we have helped to transport a couple of times. It is a great feeling to help get a furkid to its new home. Sue D.
