WRM New Rescue Jack (Shocking Photos)
Check out this poor little soul. Thankfully he's safe and being fostered right now, BUT these photos are apparently an improvement to the mess he WAS in. Angie tells me he was kept in a plastic crate all the time and she thinks he's around 4....I thought he was a puppy... XXX.

Re: WRM New Rescue Jack (Shocking Photos)
Have they ruled out Malassezia? My second Westie had it and she looked just as pitiful as he did. I took her to 4 different vets (I lived in Alaska then and one that was allegedly a dermatology vet that flew up from Sacramento to see her and other dogs with skin problems). Additionally, two different vets saw her in Florida and not one diagnosed her correctly. As a matter of fact a Dermatology for Small Animals textbook had a picture of a dog that looked like that classified as West Highland White Terrier Epidermal Dysplasia. Not until last year did I realize that it was Malassezia from information I gathered from Westie Boards.
My Westie was never in a crate, she had the run of the house, and those people that kept him in a crate should be jailed, but I think that if anyone that saw my dog in that condition and did not know how much I did and all the recourses I went through to make her feel better would also think I was a bad owner.

Update Re: WRM New Rescue Jack (Shocking Photos)
Actually, he has NO mites. He is like this from being kept in a plastic crate, in the garage... let out only 4 times a day. He probably had accidents in there and it hurt his skin, not to mention what ever else grew in there from being hot and sweaty... remember, we've had him two weeks - he's been in a crate for sometime ALL SUMMER. :( We do know its a yeast infection too - which doesn't surprise us... yeast grows in moist, warm atmosphere.
The owner was in Iraq, wife left to deal with household responsiblilities, kids and dog... he fell into that order. :(

Re: WRM New Rescue Jack (Shocking Photos)
I'm pretty sure that's what it is, but I know WRM have a lot of experience with dogs that have it too, which is lucky for him. XXX.

Re: WRM New Rescue Jack (Shocking Photos)
Probably didn't buy him....perhaps he was bred or given to someone....anyway, that's never an excuse for this sort of ill-treatment. XXX.

Re: WRM New Rescue Jack (Shocking Photos)
Poor Jack, he's almost as bad as Wendy was. It angers me so when people let a sweet dog get to this condition. With the great care and loving he gets in rescue, he'll be a handsome carrot tail in no time.
Good luck and hugs to Jack, T&C-Boys xox

Re: WRM New Rescue Jack (Shocking Photos)
what a sweetie, wish I could take him when he was ready as I do most of them. They should do that to those who harm them, see if they like it.

More Information
Ang emailed me more of his story:
"HI - Mr. Jack is an owner release as of two weeks ago. He was left in a carrier crate in the garage and let out only 4 times a day. His male owner is overseas and the wife/kids left him this way. She released him to WRM and I have had him since. Luckly, my vet urged her to contact WRM and release him. CBC's, allergy tests, etc. have been completed on him. I really think this is from sitting on plastic all day/night and only let out 4 times a day to do his business. Ethel"
What a charming family he had.... XXX.

Re: More Information
They should be charged with animal neglect!!!!
I honestly think people should apply for a licence before they are even allowed near an animal!!
