I just called this county facility and both the Lhasa and Westie have been removed from the shelter by rescue groups.

Re: westie in GA (urgent)
How can they leave them in their miserable states...it breaks my heart......and call themselves a rescue when they're planning on killing them within the week. Poor, poor little souls. XXX.

Re: westie in GA (urgent)
why dont places like shelters and such try to clean dogs up a bit? Why do they leave them in shambles? I do not know about costs and such... but to me a clean dog will be adopted faster than a mangy one.

Re: westie in GA (urgent)
I've asked this at shelters......Snotty answer I've got......We are not a Humane Society....we are a county animal control......Most county animals services don't give a damn.... :(

Re: westie in GA (urgent)
They still call themselves rescues and you'd not think it would take long, really....thanks for asking, Carolyn...I agree with Jacky...people would prefer to adopt a "clean" dog, sadly. XXX.

Not Safe Yet
I just got this email from a gal with Lhasa Rescue.......
Not true - unless the owner reclaimed them. I spoke with the pound this a.m. They are not euthing these two on Wed, but they are not available for adoption until Thursday - stray hold on them. They will be available for a "licensed GA shelter" to rescue on Saturday. So whoever told you that was mislead.

Re: westie in GA (urgent)
They must be gone I can't find it. Hope they get good homes everyone of them. Too bad I missed the Wesite but I again filled out an application for adopting a westie on Westie united. Keep your paw and fingers crossed please.

Update
Following is from the Westie Group working on getting the dog out.....It is still sitting in shelter.
This is a nasty shelter and we are hoping they will keep their word about not euthanizing this westie until we can adopt him or find someone else to. They would not let us see the dog yesterday. They told us that he could be adopted on Thursday or could be turned over to a rescue on Saturday. But...rest assured we have a very dedicated group here that will do all we can.

Re: Update
That's very encouraging that they're trying to keep on top of this, Carolyn. A bloody pity the organisation wants to dick around potential saviours though. XXX.

Re: westie in GA (urgent)
Well, at least there is someone there to catch him. Just hope the shelter does not let him or his lhasa buddy fall through the cracks. It is just insane but maybe they think they will get adopted by the public. I wish those 2 dogs the best outcome!
