Emmie to the Vet
We took Emmie to her Vet yesterday after finding a sore on her belly the size of a quarter. She wasn't bothering with it so we're not sure how long she had it before we found it. It's right by one of her nipples and after having a cat with breast cancer, we were in a panic. The vet took a scrapping and found loads of infection cells in it and since she wears a Seresto collar all the time, the vet is wondering if she was bitten by a spider. She's on antibiotics for 2 weeks and if it isn't healed by then, she'll do a biopsy. if you could say a little prayer for her, we'd be so grateful.Love, Deb, Emmie, and Angel Kelsie

We hope she gets better and that it turns out to be something minor.

Re: Emmie to the Vet
Sending healing thoughts to little Emmie and hope her infection clears up quickly.
I will add that there seems to be a "spider invasion" happening. We're in Southern California and have lived in the same house for over 35 years, but this year the spider population has just exploded. I've never seen anything like it.
There are webs everywhere outside and we even had to fog several rooms inside the house after finding (and getting bitten by) spiders while sleeping (!) and we keep a VERY clean house. Our neighbors are reporting the same thing.
Yechhh!

Re: Emmie to the Vet
Awww poor Emmie Sue. Deb what a scare that is.The size of a quarter ,that is big! I knew when I found that tumor on Grady my heart sunk, it is upsetting to discover a lump come up like over night. Sending healing thoughts for Emmie that the meds help with the infection and clear up that spider bite.
We had a very wet spring here and all summer I noticed big spider webs around the outside of the house. Not normal for here so I blame the wet weather for it.I hope next year we don't see the same.
Sending ((BIG HUGS)) to your darling Emmie Sue Sandra & Gradyxox

Re: Emmie to the Vet
The other possibility Deb is that it's a minor skin infection.
My girl Allie occasionally gets red crusty spots on her belly during her peak allergy times. My vet told me it's related to her body's inflammation and attempts to deal with the allergens...or something to that effect.
I put neosporin or some other antibiotic cream on the spots when they appear, and they go away without any further trouble.
Here's to hoping it's just a minor thing and goes away quickly for you and for her.

Katy has a few on her tummy right now too - our vet gave us this mousse stuff that I rub on her whole tummy 2 times a day. It has really helped :) Hope it clears up soon!

Re: Emmie to the Vet
Ouch! My human niece had a nasty bug bite like that when she was a toddler. The doctor couldn't figure out what caused it except for some bug. They bombed her room but only found one dead bug. I guess that was enough? It was cold and rainy here for a whole week so the spiders came inside. At my work they do ghost tours in the evening and I don't think they need to add any fake decorations. There's enough cobwebs and spiders to make it spooky enough.
