Back home after evacuation Vote for this post

Last night just little passed 9:00 pm we got an alert that there was a tree fire just three blocks from us and that the town was under evacuation orders. We scrambled to get things into the car, Grady in his portable kennel and all other needed essentials. We waited out at the edge of town. Thankfully our fire department had the blaze out within an hour and the evacuation was lifted. We returned home and all is ok.
Our state for several days has had choking hazardous air index up in the 200 range and we have been taking care to stay inside. Smoke from nearby states, Oregon, Nevada and California have blanketed our area in Smoke. If we haven't been under enough pressure with the Covid19 restrictions,  now we have to worry about fires and arsonist Yesterday 4 arrests have been made in neighboring states. I worry about the people in the path of these destructive fires.
Mark hope your family is well and safe We know your state is under extreme conditions right now.
My thoughts are with the people that have had to evacuate and all those firefighters on the front lines.

Hugs Sandra & Grady xox

Oh Sandra and Grady, so glad that you are okay.  how scary that must have been.

I watch the news and see all of the fires and destruction they have caused, and pray for the firefighters and hope for and end to them soon.  We are seeing a little bit of the smoke here in Nebraska, but nothing as serious as out west.

I to hope that Mark and his family are okay.

god bless

Sandra, I'm so glad that you and Grady are OK and back home. We watch the destruction on TV and pray for everyone in the path of the fires. How somebody could set a fire knowing that lives (both human and critter) as well as property will be lost just escapes me...We also pray for the brave men and women putting their lives on the line to fight the fires. I'm to the point where I can't watch the news anymore...It's a sad time made even more so by the thoughtless actions of too many. Take care and stay safe! Give Grady a big hug from Emmie and me.
Love, Deb, Emmie, and Angel Kelsie

We live just North of the Hollywood Hills in the San Gabriel Valley area. Air quality is the worst we've seen in over 30 years and for the last few days the sun has been literally blotted out by smoke. Evelyn, Emmy, and I are staying indoors and we have 2 HEPA air filters running 24/7.

There are brush fires around our area nearly every year now so we're always "on alert" during the late Summer months. Fortunately, our city FD is proactive about annual hillside brush clearance and the local station is minutes away from our neighborhood.

Climate change is real. I'm a physicist and engineer (now retired) and the science is indisputable. We as a species need to act and I just hope it's not too late...

Glad to hear you are all safe. Earlier in the year we thought we might have to evacuate for the first time ever due to bushfires but thankfully we remained just outside of the evacuation area but it was a very frightening time for everyone involved.
