Re: Izzy's poultice
On Xmas Day after we came home from my sisters I noticed a small amount of blood on Izzy's back paw so I bathed it and a few little hard wood splinters were in the water so am thinking that was what hurt her paw so bathed it every day since then but noticed last night she was still licking quite intently so rang up this morning and off to the vet we went where we were given 2 options sedation and exploratory surgery or apply a poultice and medication so I opted for option 2 as I really don't think it would be a grass seed as they don't go in the grass even @ my sister's. So fingers crossed it's just not healed properly due to Izzy's licking.

Diana, good you spotted it early. Poor Izzy...sorry to hear that happened with her foot. Crossing fingers that the medication and all the TLC you are giving her speeds up the healing.

Thank you
We are off to the vet late tomorrow morning to have the poultice removed and to see what if anything has come out of the wound. She has not been wearing the cone during the day (just overnight in case she tries to remove the poultice). Today she has a cute little red snowman sock to keep the bandage clean surprisingly she hasn't tried to remove the sock.

Re: Izzy's poultice
Probably the pain medication knocking her around a little the vet took off the poultice this morning was stuck to her hair making it all sticky so I gave it a wee trim tried to brush it out but she wasn't having a bar of that. The vet said it's a little fleshy lump so to continue her antibiotics until finished and just keep an eye on she said there's nothing in there that she can feel. Makes sense to me as when she first had the spots of blood and I bathed it I found small slithers of chip bark. So fingers crossed that's the end of it.
