Big dog in a little body... Vote for this post

Emmie and I had a scare today when we went for our afternoon walk. Her garden is fenced in but we had gone out into the yard behind the house to walk where there was some shade. Out of nowhere, a very large coon hound came running straight towards us. It showed no signs of aggression but I was very uneasy and Emmie picked up on it. She growled and the hair on her back stood straight up. I got her inside the fence, but she was clearly going to "protect her Mom" from that dog! Thankfully, the dog took off down the road and we haven't seen it since but believe me, I'll be on the lookout from now on! Emmie here, "Oh yes, I are a big dog in a little body an nobody are goin ta mess wif me an my Mommy when I is on duty!" I only wish my Drew Boy woulda been here ta help me in case things got outta hand. At least I didn't try ta crawl up my Mommy's leg an embarrass myself!"
Lub, Emmie Sue (da guard dog) an Mommy

Oh emmie sue how scary
I don't like big dogs either, I don't trust them. Good of you to protect your mommie.
You are a very brave girl, after all you are a westie.

Maybe that big dog was afraid of YOU Emmie! My furniece, Rupee, a Cattle Dog X, is terrified of small dogs! If I'm walking her and we see a small dog, we have to cross the street or she'll refuse to budge. She sometimes likes playing with terriers but not when they get in her personal space. She did seem to like a big Doodle we saw on the walking path. She LOVES children, especially small ones she can herd, and any adults willing to overlook her largeish size and black color.

What a brave protector you are Miss EmmieSue! Good job watching out for your Mommy and your mom getting you back around the fence with no incident. We have had a few close encounters with stray dogs. It's always a worry and we are very watchful when we go on walks as well.

Wow so glad to hear you are all ok. When I first read it I thought you said a racoon but then realised my mistake.
