Angels Fear Vote for this post

I am looking for some suggestion as to how I might help our foster girl Angel. She seems to have a fear of going thru the door to go out. When ever we send the furkids out to do thier business, she runs the other way and we have to physically carry her and put her outside. Once there she runs and has fun. She has no problem coming in, just going out. We have tried going out with her. We have tried treats to lure her outside. They have all failed.

Any suggestions will be welcome.

Thanks in advance.

We've had that alot with foster kids around here.....time and patience worked for us. Sometimes it took us a couple of weeks and other times it was a month.
The more she settles down and realizes that she is safe, the more of her true spirit will come out. Just keep reassuring her and loving her....it will all work out.

I'm not sure if you were a member whn I got Faith, but sometimes it took her several minutes just to go into another room and forget about going outside.
It's the fear of the "Unknown"
I'm going to leave my email open, if you want to talk just email me your phone number, some of the things we did with Faith might help..

Just like Carol said...
We had that very same problem with our little girl Sofie. She would walk right up to the door and then stop dead in her tracks. When we bent down to give her a little nudge out she would turn and run the other way so we would have to carry her out as well. She did not even know how to go up and down stairs when we first got her. Now she begs to go outside, will follow the others out and scratches on the door to come back in. I am not sure what the turning point was, just one day she follwed Lexi out the door.
Keep up the great work! Fostering is an AMAZINGLY rewarding experience.
Thank you very much for what you are doing for Angel!

Keri, Maddie, Lexi Lu, Sofie, and Toby the foster too!

Carey, it sounds like you got some good advise here. Never having had a puppymill rescue, I was curious if there was something in particular that could be done to help them with this problem.

Keep up the good work,
hugs, Theo and Casey xox
