REUNION!! CALLING ALL
'Old Timers"
Please, where ever you are, come and play and say hello for a day.
Can be THANKSGIVING and the DAY AFTER.
The TC started many years ago when we and our pups were a lot younger
the way things were....
once upon a time the web was created and i was searching for "westies'
a professor of Criminology from Florida had his 2 on the web. a pioneer. we got together and created the Westie Page.
Many of us met there for the first time. it was there that lilibeth met Penny and Katie and Olivia, now having crossed but we are still friends with her parents. many have gone on with their lives and will never see this ad.
does any one remember Rex, Bobby and Teepee?
this is a time for saying hello to friends and learn how we are all doing. cry over our lost little ones and rejoice in the joy the new ones bring us. to talk about old times or just say hello.
nothing else is required.
come and say HELLO
lets spread the word and see how many come in
Mark, perhaps this can become a 'sticky' for a bit
thank you Fran for such a good idea.

Our First 8 Members
Here are the very first members of the Terrier Club ... can you identify them? (Or you can cheat and click to see each bio page).
Officially, the Terrier Club club started in April 1997. However, I had much of the original site running well before that, and actually started accepting new members probably around January 1997 or so.
Before that (in mid 1996), the site was called "The Penny and Katy Home Page" and featured just our two pups, Penny and Katy.
You can still find the very first IOW in our archives here - a photo of Penny and Katy waiting for a bit of Bar-B-Que. The second IOW is this fun series of a party from Lilibeth. (I captioned many of the early IOW photos just for fun.)

Hi I am Shari with my pups Mollie & Maddie (remember the wedding book) and my new pup Dempsey. Mollie & Maddie are 11+ and Dempsey will be 2 in February 2011. We also have a kitty Cooper who is 2. Everyone gets along famously. My little adopted Tootsie went to RB in 2005. I only had her for a year and half, but she adapted so well to a cooler climate and we treasured every moment with her.

Re: Our First 8 Members
Hi Shari, I do remember you and your pups Molly and Maddie AND the lovely "wedding"!! I was more of a "lurker" at that point (I guess I still am - don't post a lot but enjoy TC a lot~). I certainly did enjoy the wedding adventure - my hubby would often walk in when I was enjoying the story and had to know why I was laughing so much! I often wondered about Tootsie - I knew that she would have a wonderful home with you! Thanks so much for thr update. Bonnie and Sammy (we lost Emmet to prostate cancer last January at the age of 13~)

Re: Our First 8 Members
Fantastic picture! I can't imagine getting Sammy and our 2 cats to sit together like that. One of our cats would be fine but our Freddy (female cat) doesn't want to be in the same room with ANY dog (or most people, for that matter!) From the day we brought her home from the Humane Society she has been a " 'fraidy-cat". We have friends that have been here many times that have no idea that we have another cat! She "lurks" at night and spends time with who-ever (whom-ever???) is up late. During the daytime she is invisible! She will not set foot in the bedroom because Sammy sleeps in there. Poor thing is almost 16 years old and has been like that since we got her at about 6 months of age. Anyway, that picture is great! Maybe I can take the pictures I have of all our animals and "photo-shop" them into one image! We would love to see more of you and hear how Molly and Maddie are doing, as well as your new adventures with Dempsy!

Oh I remember those pictures. And there is 'livvy on the front page. I could cry again!! That party was the first time we met Clara and lilibeth in person. They came to visit from Michigan for Olivia's 3rd birthday party, and those pictures were taken in our dining room. The other westie was a neighbor of ours. Clara was the first cyber-buddy I ever met in person and it was so much fun. We've gotten together many times over the years! Having westies has really improved our social life, lol, because we have a huge network of westie friends.
I really need to make a page for Katie Rose and Colin Darcy....

Awesome!!
We became members in 2003...... we miss many of the members who were active "back then".......
What can we do to help restore our community? Facebook etc, doesn't meet our needs, as we don't feel a need to tell "the world" about us.... Mark, we luv you and appreciate all that you have done and continue to do.......
we want to continue to see The 'Terrier Club as our family of friends and lovers of Cairns and Westies....

What a great idea! I think we first became members in 1998 with Reggie. Roo came along in 2002. I'm searching for pictures of both my boys but I think they are on my old computer, so it'll take a while.
I'd vote for the day after Thanksgiving because some of us won't be home on Thanksgiving and I know I'd hate to miss the fun.
In the meantime here's a picture of a bunch of us from our Eastie Westie Gathering in 2004 --

This will be SO much fun. I think it isnt written in stone about what day you come to visit. Members live in various time zones, so we welcome everyone anytime. if it goes on for a few days after Thanksgiving, thats okay too.
If I may just ask that a new thread be started about every 20 posts? photos etc take time to load. it will go smoother with segments.

Re: REUNION!! CALLING ALL
Hello Everyone. I am so anxious to have everyone come by for this visit. How many of you guys are doing some cooking today? I have made my pies, and decided to take a break and see if any guests have arrived here yet?
We became members in 2000 when Rudy came to be part of our family. I was looking on the web for Westie information and found Georgias website. telling about her first Westie rescue named Patticake. she had a link to the Terrier Club. I clicked on it. Loved it but as a shy novice with the internet, I didnt start posting right away. but once I did, it was so easy to join in. like another family emergered for me. Such friendly folks who welcomed me and Rudy into their group. Caroline and Ms Taffy were the very first friends we made. Lynda in England with Sparky & Rio also became our good friends.
Well, of course you all know, we added Rocky 6 months after Rudy. Westies just need another to play with. Rose was adopted the next year, and Rainey was next. They all have brought us such joy into our retirement years. Nine years ago, the day after Christmas, we were blessed with a sweet little 5 month old puppy of Aussie mix. someone dropped him off on our road. we think God did because we needed him. he is the loving watchdog for 4 LWDs and he does his job well. such a wonderful dog and he is so loved.
Thats R story of how we began our lives here on TC. I started a garden as a memorial garden for members gone to Rainbow Bridge. Marys Zoey was the inspiration for the garden. she died so tragically and we all grieved along with Mary when she passed.
R gang are all in their older years Rudy is 10, Rocky soon 10. Rose we have had 9 years and her age is about 13 we think. she is now blind but does well. She is and always has been a daddys girl from day 1. Rainey is 8 and a mamas girl. we adore each one and their individual personalitys.
Many friends have been made over the years here at TC. we thank Mark, Katy and Penny for sharing their lives with us all.
Please stop by and update us on your lives. we have missed you all so much.
Love Fran & R gang Rudy Rocky Rose Rainey annnd Ralphy

Re: REUNION!! CALLING ALL
Hey everyone!!!When I first joined with my angel westie Zoey, I can't even remember how I found this site. Am I glad I did though, have met some and can honestly say that when you meet people in person, you are not strangers but friends that haven't seen each other in a bit but know all about you.
Thanks to 2 members who were here in 2001 after I lost Zoey, I was able to get an adorable, head strong westie girl whom I named Kelsey. It was funny because her parents came from North Carolina and moved to the Buffalo, New York area. In August 2001 I moved from western New York to North Carolina with Kelsey who was about 3 months old at the time. I accepted a teaching position in Asheboro City Schools. Kelsey got use to a 650 mile drive that next summer when we wnet home to visit my Dad and family and friends. Kelsey loved Dad so much.....
While I lived in Asheboro, I went to the animal shelter here in Greensboro as I wanted to adopt another dog. I met Furby who was 5 years old and a Corgi/Terroer mix. He was the sweetest dog and I thought a great playmate for Kelsey. He never played but they did become best friends anyway. We lost Furby last summer at age 12 and Kelsey was depressed for awhile, Shelby too.
I lost my Dad 5 years ago today, 11/24/05 and thanks to him was able to buy the house we live in now in Greensboro, NC.. I moved in July 2006 and in the fall adopted Shelby, a sweet westie girl who pestered Furby but got Kelsey to play with her. I think it was my Dad's way of saying it was time to move on as I got her a year and a day after he passed away.
We were content just the 3 of us girls after losing Furby, but I saw Abby and decided to get her this past Easter. She has brought such joy to the house. Hard to believe she is a year old...
I have met some tc members here and is the greatest time to have. I loved the Maddie and Laddie wedding and look at the tale often, great memories.. I thank Fran for the terrier garden as Zoey's flowers were the first planted. That has brought me much comfort knowing that she is remembered on the other coast. That was a hard thing to do to let my friends here know what happened that May 15, 2001 day. I received so many great words that I have in a scrapbook about Zoey.
Kelsey is now 9 years old and a grand senior lady, don't know what I would do without her or Shelby or Abby either. My friends here too. I hear from Lynda as she always remembers birthdays and even the sad times to and always offers a kind word to help me through that day. So many wonderful people here and many more I would love to meet. Stop in if you are ever going past Greensboro, NC, would love to see an old, dear friends.
Thanks Mark, you were great when I lost Zoey and still are here for all of us. Happy Holidays to all. Today I remember my Dad and I will always remember my friends here. Mary

What more do we say? Booker and Miss Margaret brought us together over 10 years ago and now they are together at the Rainbow Bridge, now recently joined by Queenie. They are together and now we happened to be, too, this week!
This Thanksgiving we are thankful for many things, the TC included!

Re: REUNION!! CALLING ALL
Greetings from my new home state of Texas. We moved near Austin 3 years ago. I have been a member since 2002 when the TC and Westie Rescue Missouri banded together and saved me from the "needle"! My story is long and I won't go into it all here today. Just wanted to drop by and tell you how I am now.
I don't hear as well as I used to and have learned some sign language. I still adore my Mama. I don't leave her side and follow her every step. I have two bratty sisters who came from puppy mills. Clover, the black brindle Cairn, is the boss around here. I just thought I was until she set me straight . Then Mama got this little sad Westie girl last year. Annie is ok but I try to ignore them both.
Life has been good for me. I will be 13 in April and hope I have several more years with my family. I will never forget what all the members of TC did to save my life. I hope I have made you proud...
With love, Chip Wray and his Mama Janie

So much time has passed and so many things missed, life just seems to stay on full speed. Of course it was Ms. Taffy that brought me here and found so many good times. I still miss her, but know she runs like a pup with her friends at Rainbow Bridge. Millie and Bonnie are now 7 years old. Both have major health issues that make for busy days. Brodie were guessing is around 10 years plus. Some may not know we’ve added a Coonhound girl to the pack. She came as a foster a couple years back and just never left. Ellie Mae is probably around 4-5 years old. We’ve company coming soon, so can’t stay, but I do plan on checking back later or tomorrow. Wishing all a wonderful Happy Thanksgiving Day!!

Re: REUNION!! CALLING ALL
Hi all,
We joined in 2002 when we got our Molly MacGregor. Then we added Maggie Mae Westie and then Mindy.
Of that original pack only Molly remains. We have Harley who joined us after Maggie's death and we had Sophie. She was a black Lab mix and became the alpha girl after Mindy passed away from Westie Lung Disease. Again sadly, Sophie passed away last January and was blind the last year of her life. She never let it slow her down!
We miss all those that were in our pack and love those remaining as much as ever.
We are not working in rescue much right now. Both have had some serious health issues in the past few years but we keep on keepin' on. We are both surviiving well. Steve retired a couple of years ago and I am joining those ranks after the first of the year (18 more working days, but who is counting).
Possibly our greatest news is that we now have 4 grandbabies. They range in age from 4 to 9 months. We are loving the grandparent role quite a bit.
Hope everyone is healthy and happy and loving your little puppers as much as always.
Happy Thanksgiving!
As always Pam and PUPS

Re: REUNION!! CALLING ALL
I think we found TC in 2003 or 2004. TC has opened up a whole new world for us. All the posts for pups that needed rescuing and help...one day I asked what I could do and was promptly told about Westie Rescue Austin and given their contact info. Emailed them on Thursday and on that Saturday welcomed two fosters into my home (they were schnauzers but still needed a roof over their head). It has been nonstop ever since! Nessie has also been a therapy dog and dabbles in Canine Freestyle (she would be in Hollywood by now if I really practiced with her). Nessie willingly shares her house and mom with the various rescue kids. Sometimes, it seems like she counts and lets me know that we've hit our limit! Nessie loves to go to the various Celtic celebrations and events so everybody can see her! She is not shy and has never met a stranger! I've also started a new habit of baking treats/biscuits for the furkids! What a grand way to satisfy my baking/creativity urge without the calories! Nessie has opened so many doors in my life. I have met so many wonderful people and furkids through Nessie, TC and rescue efforts. Yes, I've also learned of the horrors but truly try to look at those as a learning experience and grow from them. These furkids give us such unconditional love and deserve so much more back! Blessing to everybody for this Holiday Season!

Re: REUNION!! CALLING ALL
Good Morning TC friends, Happy Thanksgiving! We're so happy to be back where it all began for us. The Girlies and I will always have a special love for this place. It all began back when Daisy was a pup and I a new PC owner..I was looking for information on how to tame a Westie pup, when I came accross lilibeth's web page..She said she answers every e mail so we sent her one, and got an invitation to join the TC..That was in 1999. When Daisy was two we thought a companion would help settle her down so we went back and got her baby sister in 2000..Sissy became a member at the tender age of 6 weeks. Well, Daisy still was as demanding as ever, so when Fran contacted me about a girl she had rescued from a bad situation we said YES! We got Beege..We call her our gift that keeps on giving, because she has been a true blessing, she and Sissy are very bonded, and Daisy still pesters me to play with her.. I've always tought that 4 Westies was the perfect number for us, so when Kay alerted me about a little girl on pet finder I thought about it and inquired about her..Then the fight began, I decided she was for us, and after a while we did get her. She was Shasta, Our little Woogie, sadly after 18 short months we lost her to a very dirty Cancer called Hemangiosarcoma. We gave that little girl a lifetime of love while she was with us, and cherish every day we had with her. The Girlies are getting older along with me..Daisy was very ill with IMHA for two years, we almost lost her then, but she proved to be a fighter and is now in remission for over 11/2 years. She is 12 years old. Sissy, was diagnosed with Diabetes this Spring, She is responding well to her twice daily insulin shots..She knows exactly what time they are due, and lets me know. She is 10 now. BeeGee we think is about the same age as Sissy, she is the calmest dog I have ever known..She just loves life..Shes an amazing girl. It's so good to see all of you here, our friends old and new..We rarely post anymore, we leave that to the younguns..We do check in every day though. Happy Thanksgiving from humid Melbourne (Australia).
Let me see.... I got Kelsi in 1999 but am not sure exactly when we joined and then Hannah came along in 2001. The chix are still going strong, now 11 and 9. They have a new Westie brother Foster (he's 6 an ex-Show dog and puppy sire) who lives with my Mum. Sweet Geordie passed away at the age of 10 a year ago. Lily (my sister's Westie) is doing well she's 10 and a little too fat.

Re: REUNION!! CALLING ALL
Good morning everyone! Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. We actually had our first snow fall yesterday...it was lovely.
MacGuyver and I joined the TC family in September of 2001. We had been 'lurking' for awhile. It was shortly after we joined that Nick had some serious health issues requiring visits/stays at the Cleveland Clinic some 400 miles from home. This wonderful tc family was my lifeline...day or night someone was always here.I so cherish the friendships of those tc friends...those remining here and those who went to other 'boards'.
Well, my MacGuyver is now 11 years old, abit slower but still acting like a puppy most of the time. Loves his toys and going for walks. He is still a little show offf. Everytime someone comes to the house, he thinks they came just to see him. He runs to greet them with a toy in his mouth ready to play fetch.
We are still doing pet therapy. MacGuyver has been a therapy dog now for over 7 years. We continue to visit hospitals and nursing homes,, participate in parades, local festivals and special events. We both enjoy doing pet therapy and, od course, the patients simply adore him. MacGuyver is a gentle soul and makes everyone he meets feel better by sharing 'smiles and joy'.
We have also been fortunate enough to have met some of our TC friends via 2 "Eastie Westie" gatherings hosted by Cheryl and Roo, 2 train ride special events hosted by Beth and Camy and myself, and a couple of dog shows. We also had the good fortune to meet with our dear friend Felicity,John,Schoon and Annie several times. We hope to have the opportunity to meet more of you in the future.
The Terrier Club will always have a special place in my heart. We have made lifelong friendships here and we are thankful for that opportunity. And, as the holiday season draws near and in the spirit of Christmas, we know that "true friends are the best gift of all".
Love and hugs, Sandi and MacGuyver

Re: REUNION!! CALLING ALL
It's wonderful to hear from old friends on here today. Elliot and I joined TC in 2002 after several months of being too bashful to post. It wasn't hard to let Elliot do the talking since he had such a strong personality. He was well traveled and socialized and known all over the NW personally through Westie and Boating gatherings and around the world online through various websites.
The Captain was just 8 yrs old when I took him to the Vet for the last time. Between severe allergies, pancreatitis and diabetes he was sick constantly and impossible to regulate blood sugar levels. I was devastated. 2 weeks later I went to the shelter to look at an advertised Westie mix and found Bullett who is a Bichon Frise. Completely different personality than a Westie but better suited for me at this time in my life.
I now live in Arkansas around my large family and Mother who is in her 80's. My son Quinton finished his degree earlier this year and now lives in Anchorage, Alaska and expecting my 3rd grandchild. I still stop by TC each morning to see how everyone is doing and someday when I retire will become active again when I get another Westie. In the meantime Bullett is one little entertaining clown that keeps me smiling! And guess what..... He doesn't like playing ball!!!!!! Elliot's last favorite ball is retired and sitting on his memorial shelf.

Kay, It was so good to hear from you. Bullit is a handsome guy. looks a lot like a Westie. except for the ears of course. he does look relaxed and calm. Bless little Elliot. we remember when we met him and you at the Westie Walk in Portland. it was the R gangs wagon debut. lol the first of many wagon adventures. we met Betty & the Girlies for first time at the Westie Walk too. actually Betty had us to her place for lunch the day before. Rocky & BeeGee met that day and it was love at first sight.
We are done with boating now and have our boat for sale. the doggy life jackets too for sale. at our ages, we won't push our luck out on that oceon.
Love Fran

Re: REUNION!! CALLING ALL
Hello friends
It is great hearing from all everyone. Our family joined the TC around 2006 when I was looking for information on the caring of westies. Everyone here made us feel so welcome when we joined it has been a real joy. You all have laughted with us in the good times and cried with us in the bad, The OKWesties membership started with Bailey who is a true gentleman in canine form. We failed fostering 101 so entered Gracie Lou into our life. Then came the pups Tuffy and Cailtin, after the passing the Cailtin at the tender age of 12 weeks Shayla joined our family. Of course I can't forget our newest girl Kaylee who helped heal our hearts when Gracie Lou suddenly passed away at age 9. Ella and I still talk about our two angels. We are looking forward to many more years with the TC.

Re: REUNION!! CALLING ALL
Greetings from Northeast Tennessee: I am Daisy Doodle and have been a member here since 1999 when my parents adopted me and my sister Lucy has been a member since 2001 when she was adopted. We have enjoyed many wonderful pictures and friendships here. We have been inactive for a few years since Mom is very busy taking care of our needs. We both have health issues (especially Lucy) but we are enjoying life everyday, especially our daily walks(which I just live for). Mom & Pop always say I know how to make the most of a walk. We are sorry to hear so many of our friends have gone over Rainbow Bridge. I am 11 almost 12 now and Lucy is 9. We have slowed down a bit ....can't go to the squirrel park now( I just get too excited and wild and Mom is afraid I will pull my leg) Lucy is blind now but she can still pick up a scent. We still go as much as we can...we have car seats and a bench in the pickup. Recently our parents got a camper trailer so there may be more traveling in our future. Thanks lilibeth for this fun idea to catch up with our friends. We have gotten lots of great advice here. Miss Taffy, Miss Tasha and now the Sisters, Booker, The Oregon Girls, R Gang & Ralphy, Angie and her gang, Becky and her gang, and precious Ellie who has delighted us all with her adorable stories. We thank all of you for the fun you have given us over the years. Westie hugs & Cairn kisses, Daisy Doodle & Lucy

Re: REUNION!! CALLING ALL
Hi Everyone, Sorry to be so late! I tried to post before but just as I was finishing my post the DC (darn computer) rudely burped and I lost my message! It was late and I thought I would post later and the next time I had a chance and went to sit down and do it, Comcast went down (Sunday night -at least 8 states were without service for many hours -until early Monday AM I think) Glad I wasn't planning to do my online shopping Sunday evening! Anyway, we - Sammy, Emmet and I - joined in 2004 after at least 2 years of lurking (and enjoying) the TC. I was totally computer-phobic but finally decided that I wouldn't crash the whole system if we joined! I check TC every day but don't post a lot. I have so enjoyed all the adventures and getting to "know" people online~ As many of you know, we lost Emmet last January to prostate cancer. There are no good treatments for that so I took him home and spoiled him until he let me know it was time~ He would have been 14 last week. Sammy will be 14 in March - she really does not hear well any more and her vision is not good. She still seems to feel fine most of the time, often zooming and bouncing around. She does have times during the day when you se that she is slowly aging - she's sometimes a bit cranky, but I think a lot of that may be due to her vision and hearing issues - when she is startled she can be a bit growly (but then, so can I - LOL!!) Hopefully she will be with us a while longer! She still enjoys life ( especially eating, but that is nothing new~) and short walks and riding in the car! She is NOT crazy about my son's Beagle that came from the Humane Society. He is about 2 but VERY rowdy and he wants to play ALL THE TIME - Sammy doesn't so she tells him off! Thanks everyone for checking in - it's great to see some old friends! Bonnie and Sammy

Ooooops! Sammy will be 15 in March, not 14~ (now she will be mad at me for "spilling the beans" ! She likes to think that she is actually younger than the calendar says she is, but don't we all - LOL!!)

Re: REUNION!! CALLING ALL
Hello All ! It is soooo good to see so many familar names. I started checking out TC soon after my 19 year old male Westie, Beau crossed the bridge. Suzanne Renaud suggested I check out TC, as we use to talk about our furkids all the time, and her Westie, Toto was getting up in age too. I ended up joining 5 years later in 2005, when I got my female Westie, Bella. I seldom ever posted, but often lurked. Now days, it's just that my private care jobs keep me far too busy, but I do try to lurk once in a while. Bella still has her one year older Scottie brother, Max, and even older fourteen year old ShihTzu brother Gizmo. Gizmo has a bad heart, and Bella seems to know, as she watches over Gizmo. Max is still a real handful, and Bella tries hard to keep him in line ! It has been great reading about what's going on with everyone and thier furkids. Hope you all enjoy a very Happy Holiday! Our Best to all of you !!! Sincerely, Jamie

Re: REUNION!! CALLING ALL
Hello, all....
Just checking back after our early post (November).... Happy to see so many members checking in, but I still feel we are missing some old friends.
We've been members for a long time, first with MacKenzie, then with Skyler Maxx (now at the Bridge) and now with MacKenzie and Tobey Maguire.... We check often to see how everyone is doing, and we often learn something new about our terriers. MacKenzie and Tobey Maguire are doing pretty well...MacKenzie is 12, almost 13 years, and has lost her hearing... but she still enjoy good food, shorter walks, and lots of hugs, ear-scrunchies, and rides in the car. Tobey Maguire is doing so much better now with his horrific allergies and skin conditions, he gets allergy serum shots weekly and still takes other medications and baths, but he is so much more comfortable with good growth of his hair again....... thanks so much to the Veterinary Dermatology Doc-ters!!!! They are phenomenal!! After the last visit, Tobey is "bouncing off the walls," just like he used to do as a pup!! We are so grateful for the support and love we have received here.......and we plan to be members for a long time..even if we are only "lurking" sometimes. Pam MacKenzie's and Tobey Maguire's Mum
